As this week was my birthday week, along with many lovely gifts I also received some Charlotte Tilbury makeup bits. I asked on my Instagram @marthasmoments if you’d be interested in a little product review on the bits I received and the feedback was clear, so here we are!
I should start off by saying that I have only tried a few lipsticks and liners from the Charlotte Tilbury makeup range, so this is a first time, first impressions review on all other products! I’ve heard so many good things and watched the hype online over these products so thought it was finally time I jumped on the bandwagon and tested them out.
First up is the Airbrush Flawless Foundation, this is a high coverage, matte finish foundation. Day to day I tend to wear something a little lighter like Nars Sheer Glow. However, I have been on the hunt for something with a bit more coverage that won’t require topping up throughout the day, and the Airbrush Flawless Foundation is just that! Although it’s a higher coverage base than I’m used to, it doesn’t appear cakey or heavy on the skin and gives a very flawless finish. I don’t think this is an everyday foundation for me personally, as I’d want to save it for an occasion or those days when I feel I do need that little extra coverage. However, if you prefer a slightly higher coverage and something that stays on well perfectly all day then this might suit your everyday needs. Even on a hot sweaty day this didn’t budge which I was really impressed by! For a matte finish this foundation isn’t drying on the skin, and is a perfect base for cream products should you wish to still achieve a glowy finish. For reference I have the Shade 7 in Neutral, this is the perfect match for my olive toned skin during the summer months. At £34 I would say this is definitely worth the price tag and lives up to hype and the title – it certainly makes the skin appear airbrushed and flawless!
Sticking with base products, next is the Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder. Again this is a beautiful product, as you’d expect the powder is very finely milled and light on the skin. I use this to set concealer under my eyes and my T-zone and it works perfectly for this. You only need to use a very small amount of product, so I recommend a small fluffy brush to apply this with to avoid packing on too much product. This also photographs very well which I was pleased with too. Again for reference I got the Shade 2 Medium, this is a few shades lighter than my skin tone to brighten the areas which I powder. Priced at £35 I do believe the quality of this product is definitely worth that, however you don’t get tons of product in the pan so I’ll be intrigued to see how long this lasts me.
Next is the iconic Matt Revolution Lipstick & Liner in the shade ‘Pillow Talk’. I know this has become a staple in so many people’s makeup bags, I can’t believe it has taken me this long to try this shade. The liner is incredibly silky and glides on without feeling scratchy or tacky on the lips. The lipstick performs just the same, for a matte lipstick it doesn’t dry out the lips and is the perfect pinky nude shade. Personally I always add a gloss on top as I’m not a matte finish kinda gal, but any pinky, peachey lipgloss goes beautifully on top. So if you are looking for a reliable lipstick that stays on all day, doesn’t bleed or dry out – this is the one! For £37.80 for the two you can’t fault it.
Along with these full sized products I also received 2 testers which was a nice little bonus. One being a mini of the Pillow Talk lipstick which is beyond cute and super handy to pop in your handbag. The other was a tester of the Legendary Lashes Mascara, having only tried this a couple of times I don’t feel I can give a full review however my first impressions are that it is extremely lengthening and made my eyelashes look beautifully fluttery without clumping. However this did smudge quite badly on me when used for both top and bottom lashes so I will try just top lashes and get back to you on whether I would purchase full size based on this.
