This weekend Bids and I decided it was time to get away and spend some time to ourselves and what better time to do this than over the Christmas period. Back in September I managed to get some Chelsea football tickets for both of us – as I originally thought I would be studying and would need to book this around term time I had got the tickets for December. Once I knew I would be at home and not in Scotland we decided we would make a weekend of it and spend some time Christmas shopping and enjoying the City in all its festive glory!
What a weekend it was, from Chelsea to Camden we squeezed in everything we possibly could. Unfortunately I didn’t get as many photo’s as I would have liked, due to the embarrassment of Bids having to take photos of me, however it was quite nice not stressing about getting the perfect shots and enjoying each others company.
Our first night we arrived later than expected as I cocked up our coach tickets and ended up arriving around 9.30pm so we quickly got changed and headed straight for the pub for a well deserved drink! After one too many we stopped via the local chip shop and headed home for a good night sleep! The next day we woke up early, went out for breakfast and headed straight to Stamford Bridge in time to get a drink and buy some Christmas presents at the merchandise store. Luckily Dad and Bids both support Chelsea so we were able to make a dent in our Christmas shopping! Chelsea won 1-0 against Southampton so we left in high spirits ready to head home and get ready for an evening out.
We spent the evening enjoying live music and delicious food at Zedel Brasserie before heading into the heart of Soho for a few cocktails (Can you tell we enjoyed a good drink this weekend?). We discovered Dean Street Townhouse which at first was too busy to sit but the staff did everything they could to accommodate us and make us welcome with a drink at the bar before getting us a cosy table! If you’re planning on heading into London for a cocktail I couldn’t recommend Dean Street Townhouse more! A wonderful atmosphere, beautiful cocktails and brilliant staff!
Sunday was spent at Winter Wonderland – ice – skating in the pouring rain and finding shelter with a hot mulled wine in hand (shock, drinking again!). To Biddy’s surprise I managed to stay on my feet the entire time on the ice, until we got the tube home when I landed flat on my bum after slipping down a flight of stairs, much to Biddy’s amusement! After some Christmas shopping and of course a few more beers we headed home for a thai takeaway and an early night ready to travel back home on Monday.
This was the most perfect weekend and I couldn’t have spent it in better company. The best way to get into the festive spirit and enjoy some much deserved time off work!
