Getting Festive

Christmas has to be one of my favourite times of the year! Although the days are getting shorter and the nights are getting darker, it’s the perfect time to cosy up and enjoy the festivities.

I am very lucky to have a large close nit family and for us Christmas is a time to get together, catch up and celebrate!

One thing I love about Christmas is the overwhelming amount of food, wine & parties! Growing up in the Drane household I have enjoyed many of my parents famous dinner parties, you’re never short of good wine, good music and good food here! This is now something I love to do for my friends and I.

To continue this legacy I love to get all the girls together to catch up and enjoy a few drinks round the dinner table, and what better time to do this than Christmas! We so rarely sit around a table to enjoy evening meals anymore that it’s so important to make time for this when possible!

For me one of the best things about having people round for dinner is always setting the table. I don’t know what it is about chucking some confetti and some candles on a table but it’s one of my favourite things to do! Having seen my parents do it so well, and having worked many weddings and events over the years I have seen some incredible table decorations and always try something special myself!

My top tips for dressing a good table are:

  • Choose a theme/ colour scheme
  • Always have candles lit and lowlighting
  • Always always add some sparkle to the table
  • Always incorporate some form table games/entertainment

My friends know too well that dinner parties at the Dranes always lead to a headache in the morning, but it’s always worth it!

As Christmas is getting closer it’s time to make time for those closest to us, watch festive films and eat all the chocolate in sight. That’s what I’ll be doing anyway!Β

I hope you enjoyed this brief post, I have a lot more exciting content planned for December so keep your eyes peeled for some festive reads, until next time! M x
